In 1796 the first musicbox, in German-speaking countries also known as Musikdose, Spieldose
or Speeldoos, was invented in Switzerland.
The tradition of making and development has proceeded until today, which makes Swiss companies leading worldwide in production and quality of musicboxes, beyond all the firm
Reuge Music .
Since its existence
Reuge
creates

musicboxes
in ultimate perfection, phonetic beauty and craft art.

The musicboxes play one or multiple melodies according to the roll size. The roll settings are made by a learned musician, who knows the requirements of compositions for musicboxes
and possesses both musical and technical skills. The rolls contain 80 to 5000 pins according to size, which make the 18 to 144 reeds sound polyphonically.

The boxes or caskets are predominantly made from elm wood, which is veneered with natural
or coloured precious wood. Other, more modern materials are crystal glass, brass and acrylic glass.

The making of the musicboxes is carried out in chosen craft businesses. The complex inlaywork is exclusively and entirely done in manual work.

We are glad to offer You a large variety of

different musicbox-models with rolls in the sizes AXA 18., AXA 22., AXA 36., AXA 50. and AXA 72.
