additional middle joint 415Hz, maple for alto (g) Ran Ganassi

Sylvestro Ganassi describes in its 1535 in Venice published work „La Fontegara“, a course book about diminution, how he had accomplished to expand the common pitch range of a recorder up to 1 ½ octaves throug special fingering. It is controversial if he refered to a certain recorder type.Only a few conserved insturments form this time allow by its construction, to play more than only single tunes of the „Ganassi-fingering“, the most well-known of those is an alto recorder in the art-history museum Vienna. Reconstructions of this instrument allow a relatively easy pitch range of more over 2 octaves. Characteristic for this recorder design is the cylindric internal bore with wide expansive bell at the lower end. They have a powerful, robust sound, that gets especially clear and radiant in its heights.

This finest handmade early-baroque soprano recorder- also called Ganassi recorder- with two lower parts each in a= 442 Hz and 415 Hz is made of maple. For maintenance and to conserve the beautiful sound it is neccessary to regularly oil the recorder.
