The two big sonatas by Giuseppe Sammartini (in the original "St. Martini") convince with their slow movements through beuatiful melodies and interesting harmonies. The sonata from op. 2 is turbulent to virtuoso in the faster movements, the one from op. 13 however is more mature and balanced. Both sonatas ake a great expansion of the not very comprehensive literature for the soprano recorder.
