Thieme, Clemens - Sonata à 5 - SSATB und Bc ad.lib.

Only few works by Clemens Thieme, born 1631 close to Dresden, are conserved, even though he was very popular and famous at his time. His sonatas resemble the ones by the nowadays more famous Rosenmüller. Through vivid homophony and fugue-like episodes over a tight bass this music is diverse, as much for players as for audiences. Both sonatas (e-minor and d-minor) were originally meant for gambas, but are also excellently suited for recorders.
