This sonata was published in Breslau in the 17th century and is one of the earliest examples of original recorder literature. Sonorous homophonic passages alternate with contrasting sections in triple metre, reminiscent of the ‘classical’ canzona form, which was already older at the time. This sonata was originally attributed to Daniel Sartorius, but it is assumed that it was written by Daniel Bollius (1585 - 1642).
