Corrette's duets, entitled ‘VI Duetti À Due Violini, ò à Flauti traversi op. 23’, turn out to be sonatas when opened – the print is in score form. They consist of three to five movements, which contain a variety of dance and free forms. With the exception of the second sonata, they always begin with a slow movement, while the final movement is always fast. The last sonata ends with a ciacona, which is also the climax in terms of length.
The edition is intended for two alto recorders in F, which required some transpositions. The transverse flute has the lowest note D, which suggests a transposition of a third for the recorder. This works well for all sonatas except the first. This is in D minor, which after a transposition of a third would result in the uncomfortable key of F minor; G minor is much better, but then has very unpleasant high notes in a few places that have been transposed, as can be seen in the critical report.
