Fontana, Giovanni Battista - Sechs Sonaten - Sopranblockflöte und Basso continuo

Part of Giovanni Pandolfi Mealli's violin sonatas is made available to the public for the first time with this edition, which meets both scientific and practical requirements. Almost nothing is known about the life of the Italian chamber musician at the Innsbrucker Hof, only one other publication has been published in Rome in 1669, when Pandolfi was a violinist in Messina. The sonatas presented here from Opus 3 are stylistically rooted in Italian sonata creation in the early 17th century. With a very personal gesture, Pandolfi provided decisive impulses for the development of the virtuoso violin sonata in southern Germany and Austria, which were recorded and further developed by composers such as Johann Heinrich Schmelzer. Most of these sophisticated and interesting sonatas can also be made on the soprano recorder.
