"Time & Rhythm" is a collection of dances and folk songs of varying character from different countries, arranged in a decidedly lively and loving way by Viktor Fortin. The songs are accompanied by vocal texts which give an important indication of breathing and phrasing. Information about the origins of the historical dances, their social use and character is interesting and stimulating. The first volume contains easy pieces with small ranges, accessible keys and simple rhythmic divisions that do not go beyond eighth notes. The percussion part can serve as a rhythmic pre-exercise or make it easier to settle into the respective tempo. On the other hand, it can also help to emphasise the characteristic accents and movements, i.e. the character of the pieces. The new edition of the series "Time and Rhythm" is a useful addition to recorder lessons, which should whet the appetite for playing and creating music together.
