Frescobaldi, Girolamo - Capriccio sopra il Cucho - SATB

The presented work comes from Frescobaldis collection of twelve Capriccies for key-instruments, that was published 1624 in Rom under the title IL PRIMO LIBRO / DI CAPRICCI / FATTI SOPRA / DIVERSI SOGGETTI; ET / ARIE IN PARTITURA DI / GIROLAMO / FRESCOBALDI / ..., in an editing for four recorders by Eric Fiedler. The Capriccio sopra il Cucho is in its structure an extraordinary composition, that breaks with old common compositioning rules- like keeping the biggest possible variety of melodical unfolding while avoiding repetition- and therefore creates a very special effect. Next to vivid and partially virtuoso under-parts the treble is limited to a audio-material of 2 tunes for the whole piece- the editing of this "Kuckuckrufs" can very well be seen as a anticipation to the time of the Baroque.
