The presented work comes from Frescobaldis collection of twelve four-parts Capriccies for key-instruments, that was published 1624 in Rom under the title IL PRIMO LIBRO / DI CAPRICCI / FATTI SOPRA / DIVERSI SOGGETTI; ET / ARIE IN PARTITURA DI / GIROLAMO / FRESCOBALDI / ..., in an editing for four recorders by Eric Fiedler. The bassa fiamenga was a folk-melody in the 16th century, that kept being popular for a long time. It appeared for the first time in a collection published 1578 ith dance-movements by Giorgio Mainerio as dance-pair Todescha / Saltarello. These two movements are Frescobaldis Capriccio in this edition as comparison or supplement prefixed.
