Charpentier, Marc-Antoine - Noël 1694 (SATB)

Christmas music from the time of Louis XIV for recorder quartet SATB, with basso continuo ad libitum. In this edition, Charpentiers Noëls sur les instruments (H.531 and H.534) and the Agnus Dei from  Messe de Minuit (H.9) have been arranged with the aim of presenting the French timbres through recorders, similar to the various stops of an organ. The movements can thus be differentiated in themselves with the instrumentation alternating between four-foot (SATB) and eight-foot (TBGbSb). Additional tonal colours can be achieved by the participation of a harpsichord, a theorbo or a baroque harp.
